Instantly Produces an Accurate Thread Count

No Magnification - No Eyestrain - No Counting

Choose either the traditional oval pattern or the new taper pattern model.

The Lunometer® is a transparent vinyl plate containing a high precision sequence of lines with corresponding numbered graduations. When placed over woven or knitted materials, it produces a measurement pattern that enables the Lunometer® to provide an accurate thread count.

Using available daylight and/or artificial light, a thread count is quickly made by moving the Lunometer® over the fabric until the measurement pattern is seen.

On standard models F, G and R, at the point where the waves converge, a circular or oval shaped image appears, as in the illustration below.

moire-7a.jpg

The oval pattern shown above, indicates a thread count of 40 picks or courses (warp and filling yarns) per inch or 15½ per centimeter. On taper models FT and GT, the image takes a diamond shape, as in the illustration below.

moire-8a.jpg

The thread count is determined by reading the scale number corresponding to the axis of the symmetrical image developed by the instrument, as visualized by the user. An actual line representing the axis does not appear. It must be imagined.

Model G and R instruments are available in standard and laboratory grades. For ordinary production applications, standard grade models are recommended.

Laboratory grade instrument measuring ranges correspond to standard models F, G and R. They are made by a different process and provide the clearest resolution. These Lunometers are recommended for precise quality control.

Grid lines and graduations in all models are laminated into a clear vinyl plate and cannot rub off in use.

Comprehensive instructions and protective case are included with each model.
